You cannot control the results, only your actions

You cannot control the results, only your actions

In this post, I am going to share a possible reason with you on why you have never had the results you desire. I am also going to share a tried and tested solution with you. Here’s a hint: Focus on what YOU can control.

Knowing the difference between the things we can control and the things we cannot make a big difference in our lives. We often refuse to accept the brutal truth in life that we have no control over many of the things that happen in our life. We focus on what we can’t control which often takes our energy and attention away from the things that we can control.

The quote I used as a title of my blog is by Tiny Budhha. This quote is also a reminder for all of us that we can’t control our future but we can absolutely pay attention to the present.

Paying attention to the present can also lead us to a better future but worrying about the things outside your control accomplishes nothing except expending a lot of energy that could be better spent elsewhere.

“Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present.”

-Marcus Aurelius

I agree and admit that focusing on your actions does not always give you the desired results but it is very important that we should learn to appreciate that at-least we tried!

“We can’t control everything that happens, but we can change our experience of those things.” – Headspace

If you find yourself wasting your time worrying about why you can’t achieve the desired results, then you need to understand that the fundamental truth is that results are not in your control.

Accept it, believe it, absorb it completely. It does not matter how hard you try or how good your preparations are, you can NEVER control the results ONLY the actions!

Let’s take a simple example to understand what I meant by that.

If I have to apply for a job, then I can control how much time and effort I put into preparing for a job interview, but I cannot control whether I am going to be hired or not.

You will be a better person if you understand the golden rule:  while you can’t control every situation, you can control how you think, feel, and behave.

Think of it this way – If you focus on your actions, you may or may not succeed but If you don’t focus on your actions, you will definitely not succeed.

Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get the desired results. Focus on what you can control in any situation. The results will certainly follow when you focus on and commit yourself to perform the right amount of the right activities. When we focus on performing the correct activities over time, we ultimately achieve our goals.
